In light of our discussion with 10-1 this week on smart materials and nanotechbology, here is an interesting article issued by Scientific American on use of super tiny nanoparticles in medicine.
Have a read, it's pretty interesting! The future of medicine is quite amazing. (Click on the link to read).
Disguised Nanoparticles Slip Past Body's Immune Defense
Can you tell me, what obstacle did scientist manage to overcome when trying to use nanoparticles to fight disease and tumours?
Hi it is me again :). They have found a way to smuggle drug-carrying nanoparticles past the body’s immune system: by camouflaging them to look like cell fragments found in human blood.
ReplyDeleteWas literally about to type that, *sigh* you beat me to it.

DeleteScience came up with something called a PillCam. With PillCam, physicians can now visualize the small bowel, esophagus and colon* with a small, disposable capsule used to monitor and diagnose disorders of the gastrointestinal tract without sedation or invasive endoscopic procedures. what do you guys think about it?
